Parliament has voted to appoint two more people to the Independent Police Conduct Authority.

This is in line with recommendations of a Commission of Inquiry in 2007 into police behaviour.

The appointments will raise membership from three to five.

One of the new appointees is Alan Galbraith, who currently manages investigations for the authority.

Mr Galbraith was a police officer for 37 years and his experience included investigating the Rainbow Warrior bombing.

The other new appointee is Mel Smith, a fomer ombudsman.
