Child killer to remain in prison

3:23 pm on 21 May 2012

The Parole Board says a man convicted of killing a three-year-old girl by suffocation will not have another parole hearing until February 2015.

Luke Sibley, 33, has been in prison for 15 years and was declined parole in February this year.

At the time, the board said sexual offending was part of the murder, although Sibley was not charged with it at the time.

He is scheduled to begin the Child Sex Offender Programme in July next year.

The Parole Board said because of those circumstances, Sibley will not be suitable for release when he is next due for consideration next February.

It also says Sibley is low security, well-behaved and keeps himself busy in prison.
