The Phoenix have belied their lowly position on the A-League soccer ladder to upset competition heavyweights Sydney 2-1 in Sunday's round six in Wellington.
The Phoenix fell behind early in the match to an Alex Brosque header, but stepped up to level the match by half-time and secured their first win of the season with a Tim Brown goal in the 76th minute.
The Phoenix are now off the bottom of the ladder, above Perth.
