Blueskin Bay murder accused pleads guilty

One of three men charged with murder at a beach near Dunedin has pleaded guilty.

James Ellis, 23, was found dead from blunt force injuries at Blueskin Bay estuary in April last year.

Three men were arrested shortly after and jointly charged with his murder.

At the High Court in Dunedin on Thursday, Peter Holmes, 26, pleaded guilty to causing the death. He will be sentenced in August.

The other men, Dean Carruthers, 48, and his son Mark Carruthers, 18, are expected to be go on trial in mid-July.
