Job cuts at Telecom

7:05 am on 1 October 2008

Telecom is poised to lay off more people in a restructuring of one of its business units.

The company says it is considering the future make-up of its international business unit and some employees may lose jobs.

It's understood those working for the unit have been told the decision about the unit's restructure is likely to initially affect 22 people.

Telecom has not released further details.

The international business unit is part of Telecom's wholesale division.

Telecom recently outsourced some of its call centre jobs to the Philippines, in a trial that could see up to 1400 jobs lost here.
