A New Zealand company has won a $100 million contract to support the United States Antarctic Programme.

PAE New Zealand will work with Lockheed Martin, the prime contractor, to provide the services from Christchurch.

PAE New Zealand says it will transport people and equipment, and support medical facilities, research vessels, construction projects and remote sites in Antarctica.

It says it will also modernise some technologies used in taking people and cargo to and from the continent.
