The New Zealand Government is committing nearly $5 million to extend war pension coverage.
Veteran Affairs Minister Nathan Guy says $4.8 million will be spent over the next four years on those who served in 10 additional military deployments.
Veterans will be eligible for a War Disablement Pension for any disability that occurred as a result of service on the new recognised deployments, which include specific missions in Bougainville, Iraq and Somalia.
Mr Guy says an estimated 1100 additional veterans will be eligible.
