Police say two women in the Wellington suburb of Melrose have been assaulted by a man grabbing them from behind in broad daylight in the past few days.
The latest assault happened mid-afternoon on Thursday at the intersection of Tavistock and Buckingham roads. The first was two days before on Rodrigo Road.
Detective Inspector Paul Basham says it is likely the assaults are linked
Women walking in the area alone are warned to be extremely cautious.
The offender in both incidents is described as a male Maori in his late teens or early 20s, of medium build.
