All Whites open campaign with win

The All Whites have opened their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 1-0 win over Fiji in the Solomon Islands.
Captain Tommy Smith scored the only goal in the ninth minute after Fiji goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau could not hold a Leo Bertos free kick. Smith following up to knock in the rebound.
Goalkeeper Mark Paston was injured shortly after half-time and was substituted for youngster Jake Gleeson.
