Limping man sought in burglary inquiry

11:58 am on 12 June 2012

Police are looking for a man believed to have been injured when falling from a balcony following a break-in.

They say a 19-year-old woman woke to find a man in her Rotorua home at about midnight on Saturday.

She immediately alerted her housemate and police say the person ran away and in the process fell from a nearby three-metre balcony.

The incident is being treated as a burglary with sexual overtones.

Police say a neighbour later disturbed someone breaking into his car and noticed the man had an obvious limp as he ran away.

Police want to hear from anyone who was at a large party in Leslie Avenue that night and may have seen the offender, after a police dog tracked the limping man there.
