A teenager has been committed to trial for the killing of a student working in his family's South Auckland dairy.

Saishwar Naidu, 22, was working an extra shift at the store in Finlayson Avenue when he was stabbed to death in January.

At a pre-trial hearing at the Manukau Youth Court on Thursday, Judge David Harvey said there was sufficient evidence to commit the accused, aged 16, to trial in the High Court.

He pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder and was remanded in custody to appear at the High Court in Auckland in November.
