Gastroenteritis outbreak hits Lincoln on eve of exams

8:25 pm on 17 October 2008

As 600 students are about to descend on its campus for exams, Lincoln University is trying to contain an outbreak of gastroenteritis.

The university says 15 students diagnosed with the infection are being isolated from other students in another part of the campus.

It says it is working with the Medical Officer of Health and has put together a special team to deal with the outbreak.

It is asking staff and students who feel ill to immediately see the Student Health service, their doctor, or attend an after-hours surgery.

Lincoln University's two-week examination period begins on Saturday.
