Killer's sister relieved that inquest date set

The sister of a convicted murderer is relieved a date has been set for an inquest into his death in prison three years ago.

Antonie Dixon was found dead in Auckland prison in 2009, while awaiting sentence for murder and for severing the hands of two women with a sword while on illegal drugs.

He had what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries.

Last month, Carla Dixon told Radio New Zealand News she felt inquiries into her brother's death had been put on the backburner to be forgotten.

But the Corrections Department said a report was carried out in June 2010 and passed onto the Coroner.

Coronial Services now says an inquest will be held on 27 - 29 August in Auckland.

Ms Dixon, who lives in England, says she is relieved it is going ahead.
