MetService is warning drivers to expect snow on the high alpine passes on Sunday night.
The forecaster says light snow and sleet showers are expected to affect the Arthurs, Lewis and Lindis passes.
Up to three centimetres of snow is expected to accumulate at the summit of the passes by Monday afternoon.
Sleet and snow is also expected on Milford Road, with up to five centimetres of snow accumulating near the tunnel by Monday evening.
