$30 million Lotto jackpot split five ways

6:40 am on 19 October 2008

There was no winner of Saturday night's jackpot Lotto $30 million Powerball first division prize.

The second division prize will instead be shared by five winners, each taking $6.1 million.

Two of the winning tickets were sold to players at shops in Wellington, with the other three being bought in Manukau, Onehunga and Reefton.

The draw was delayed by half an hour because of a rare technical glitch with the Powerball machine's spinning functions.

A spokesperson for New Zealand Lotteries says a back-up machine had to be used and Audit New Zealand was on site to scrutinise the draw.

Ticket sales for the Powerball draw were more than triple the number in a usual week, causing long queues outside Lotto shops around the country.
