The group behind the makeover of Westpac Stadium in Wellington says it will not increase the number of events held at the venue.
The Wellington Regional Stadium Trust will invest $29 million on the facility over the next six years.
The upgrade includes two extra changing rooms, a covered entrance area, mezzanine bars and revamping part of the concourse.
Plans for a roof and indoor concert area have been ruled out due to costs. A roof is estimated to cost $80 million.
Trust chairman Paul Collins recognises the importance of having a covered stadium, but says the plans should improve the overall customer experience.
