Two rare Madagascan day geckos stolen from Hamilton Zoo have been recovered.

At the time, zoo officials thought they had been stolen to order. Three sets of padlocked doors were cut through.

The geckos were located by the Ministry of Agriculture on Wednesday.

Zoo director Stephen Standley says they have made a full recovery and are back in their enclosure.

Two bearded dragons are still missing.
