Traffic slow after Auckland motorway pile-up

6:12 pm on 28 October 2008

Traffic is still slow on the northbound lanes of the Southern Mortorway in Auckland after a multiple-vehicle crash blocked the road for several hours on Tuesday afternoon.

The pile-up, which happened before the Khyber Pass off-ramp and has now been cleared, happened shortly before 3pm and led to queues as far back to Otahuhu.

Traffic is still congested on the northbound lanes, with the stretch between East Tamaki and Wellington Street in Freeman's Bay particularly slow.

Two people suffered moderate injuries and one was taken to Auckland Hospital.
