Two fur seals with commercial fish hooks in their mouths have been found on the same day.
The Department of Conservation says one was spotted by beach-goers on Omaha beach north of Auckland, and another on North Port beach near Whangarei last week.
DoC says it is common to see fur seals at this time of year as they head north for the winter but unusual for them to have hooks in their mouths.
