Several residents in Lyttelton have objected to a by-law restricting brothels to certain parts of Christchurch.
Christchurch CityCouncil wants to limit brothels to commercial parts of the city, including London Street, the main thoroughfare in Lyttelton.
A third of the 90 submissions received as of Monday were from residents in the port, some of whom thought London Street was an inappropriate location for brothels because it was where the town holds street parties and socialises.
Submissions have closed and seven are due to be heard from 25 - 27 July.
