Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a 12-year-old girl in Dunedin.
The girl has told police she was walking to meet her mother when she was dragged into a carport area and assaulted by a man.
The incident occurred at the corner of Kirkaldy Street and Bayview Road, South Dunedin, between 7pm and 8pm on Thursday.
The man is described as being in his late teens, with a wispy beard and wearing dark clothing.
The police say the victim is distressed but uninjured.
An area of Kirkcaldy Street was cordoned off on Friday for a scene examination.
