20 restructurings within NZTA in two years

Official documents show there have been 20 restructurings within the Transport Agency in the past two years.

Changes have been made to the Organisational Support department five times, while the Access and Use department and Highways and Network Operations have had four changes each.

In addition, the Whanganui office was closed down during the two-year period.

The agency says that, like all effective public-sector organisations, it is always looking for ways to provide better services, better outcomes for Government and a "great workplace" for its people.

Green Party transport spokesperson Julie Anne Genter says the amount of restructuring is concerning and begs the question of whether the agency delivers the service and focus on transport that is needed.
