Women's hockey team arrives in London

2:42 pm on 17 July 2012

The New Zealand women's hockey team has arrived at the London Olympic village, one of the first New Zealand teams into the venue.

The Black Sticks will have a couple of days training in London before going to France for a friendly match.

Midfielder Kalya Sharland says it's good to get some extra time to get use to the village and get their sleeping patterns in place before competition begins.

That includes not attending the opening ceremony.

Competitors from 50 countries including Russia, Cuba, Italy and the Netherlands arrived at Heathrow Airport on Monday.
