Man facing murder charge appears in Tauranga court

A 64-year-old man charged with murder has appeared in the Tauranga District Court.
His arrest follows the death of a woman outside a house in the Tauranga suburb of Judea on Friday afternoon.
Police have identified the woman, who was in her 50s, and notified her next of kin.
Both the accused and the woman have interim name suppression.
The man has been remanded in custody and will reappear in court on Monday.
A police spokesperson says a forensic examination of the scene is underway and a post mortem will be held on Monday.
