Mayor peeved about offshore recruitment companies

1:56 pm on 25 July 2012

South Taranaki district Mayor Ross Dunlop says companies cherrypicking for skilled workers are annoying.

JBS Australia, which runs 11 meat processing plants, will be in Hawera on Friday to discuss job opportunities across the Tasman.

Mr Dunlop says people should consider their options carefully before they decide to leave the country.

He asks if the jobs are so good in Australia, why aren't Australians taking them up.

And he says meat plants in South Taranaki are very good and there is a great quality of life in the region.
