A company has been fined $45,000 after a worker was trapped under a forklift and killed.

Auckland District Court has heard an employee of Fowlers Machinery Limited had been working underneath the forklift repairing its left front brake when the incident happened in September.

The man died of asphyxia at the scene.

The Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment says the tragic accident serves as a warning for all employers and employees who are carrying out hazardous work.
