No parole but Privy Council appeal for Barlow

9:36 pm on 13 November 2008

An application for parole by the convicted double murderer John Barlow has been adjourned until March.

Barlow was convicted of murdering Gene and Eugene Thomas in Wellington in 1994, but has always maintained his innocence.

The Parole Board is seeking a second opinion on his risk to the community, and has asked for further psychological assessments.

In the meantime, the 62-year-old has won the right to have his appeal heard by the Privy Council in February.
