Icepak Coolstore case returns to court

6:27 am on 15 November 2008

The companies and individuals facing nine charges over the explosion and fire at Icepak Coolstores in Tamahere, near Hamilton, have reappeared in court.

One firefighter died and seven others were seriously injured in the explosion in April.

In Hamilton District Court on Friday, name suppression for three men was extended until the next court appearance.

Also charged are the Icepak Coolstore Company, Mobile Refrigeration Specialists and one of its employees, Warren Cook.

All have been remanded without plea to reappear in February.

The court heard that discussion is under way between the Department of Labour and the lawyer for the three men to have the charges against them dropped.
