A heritage building in Christchurch has been officially reopened by the Prime Minister on Tuesday following its restoration after being damaged in the February 2011 earthquake.
Historic Te Koraha house, which is part of Rangi Ruru private girls' school in Merivale, has been closed for the past 18 months.
School principal Julie Moor says that the house was used mainly for administration before the earthquake, but now it has been restored with a number of classrooms.
Ms Moor says with many heritage buildings in Christchurch damaged, the school wants to share Te Koraha with its students.
She says Te Koraha was very much part of early Christchurch and it is a thrill to see the building restored to its former glory.
