A bus carrying 16 school children has crashed in south Taranaki.
Police say the vehicle rolled down a bank about 8.15am on Tuesday on Mangawhero Road.
Sixteen children as well as the driver and his wife were on board at the time.
The children are from two schools at Kaponga.
Police say no one was seriously injured. However, one boy was airlifted to hospital and another six were sent to Hawera Hospital by road.
Kaponga Primary principal Shane Downs says students were shaken up by the experience.
Mr Downs says a farmer working nearby came quickly to the children's aid.
He says the driver had travelled the route thousands of times.
Mr Downs says he has no concerns about school bus safety.
The bus narrowly missed a power pole before stopping upside down in a paddock.
