A child who says her parents and two others sexually and physically abused her has told a court her father came to her aid when another family friend indecently assaulted her.

The 13-year-old has been giving evidence in the High Court in Wellington, where her parents and two other men are on trial on a total of 43 charges, including sexual and physical abuse.

Earlier the girl recalled an occasion when her father caught a family friend touching her and her parents took her to hospital.

She said her father was angry and upset about what had happened and had a fight with the man and pushed him out of the house.

The girl said social workers talked to her and she also did a recorded interview about what had happened.

In cross-examination on Wednesday she agreed that in that interview she did not mention the other abuse she now says the accused committed.
