Shots fired from toddler's home, court told

The High Court in Wellington has been told that shots were fired from the home of a Wanganui toddler on the night she died.

Six men are before the court charged with the murder of two-year-old Jhia Te Tua in May last year.

A neighbour told the court that three cars pulled up and at the same time he saw a man outside the child's home pointing a rifle at one of the cars.

He said that he then heard shots fired but could not tell whether the man outside the Te Tua home or someone in the cars fired first.

Earlier that evening, said neighbours, who are giving evidence by closed-circuit television to protect their identities, they saw Black Power members at the home throwing bottles at passing vehicles, including one that tried to run some of them down.
