Bad weather has stopped an air search for two students and a climbing instructor presumed drowned near New Plymouth.
Stephen Kahukaka-Gedye and Felipe Melo - both aged 17 - were part of a Spotswood College group climbing Paritutu Rock on Wednesday when they were swept away.
Instructor Bryce Jourdain, 42, dived in to try to save them.
Search & Rescue says the weather is horrible with heavy rain, fog and low cloud preventing an air search.
Sea and land searches are still taking place.
