Food prices were up slightly in July.

Statistics New Zealand says the Food Price Index shows a 0.2% rise, with fruit and vegetables up 4.4%.

However, in the year to July, food prices fell by 2%.

There was a general fall in grocery prices, and restaurant and takeaway prices were also down.
