New stand at Eden Park approved

All major structural elements of Eden Park's redevelopment for the 2011 Rugby World Cup have been approved.

Resource consent was given on Monday for the 8600-seat capacity East Stand, which will replace the terraces.

The Eden Park Board says consent was granted without public notification because the authorities deemed it was in line with the district plan and not out of the ordinary.

Chairman John Waller says the only resource matters which remain concern transport facilities and temporary stands for the World Cup.

Mr Waller said the project is on schedule and on budget.
