The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has confirmed a New Zealand man has been killed in Thailand.
MFAT spokesperson Nicky Grant on Tuesday confirmed reports that Robert Hollick died in Pattaya, a coastal city south-east of Bangkok.
Ms Grant said the New Zealand embassy in Bangkok is working with authorities to get more information and the ministry is offering assistance to the family.
Media in Thailand are reporting that the 43-year-old was stabbed to death during a bar fight in the city and police have charged Andreas Ringvall, 40, of Sweden with murder.
It has been reported that Mr Hollick was stabbed three times in the neck and back, and was pronounced dead at a hospital.
In 2011, New Zealander Charles Jones, a former president of the World Croquet Federation, was killed while on holiday in Pattaya.
