A person has died in a house fire in Hamilton early on Wednesday morning.
Firefighters say they only found there was someone left inside the property after they had put out the fire. The police are treating the death as unexplained.
Two adults and two children at the address were taken to Waikato Hospital, where their condition is unknown at this stage.
The fire at the house in Holland Rd, Fairfield, started at about 3.50am.
A scene guard was in place on Wednesday and a joint police/Fire Service investigation is under way.
