The registered owners of cars seen cruising areas known for prositution are being targetted by South Auckland business owners.

Business associations and community members are patrolling known cruising spots late at night and writing to the owners of the cars they photograph.

They also want the law on prostitution to be reviewed.

A bill to ban sex workers in Manukau streets failed in Parliament in 2006.

Business represetnatives say prostitution law reform failed to address the issue of street workers, and streets are littered with needles, used condoms and human waste.

A Papatoetoe real estate agency says its personnel are intimidated by prostitutes.

However, a motelier says there has been a drop in the number of people seeking sex workers since the campaign began.
