Adventure company charged over drowning

Maritime New Zealand has charged an adventure tourism company and its owner over the death of a British tourist.

Emily Louise Jordan, 21, drowned while river-boarding on the Kawarau river in Queenstown in April.

Black Sheep Adventures Ltd and its owner, Brad Alexander McLeod, faced six charges in the Queenstown District Court on Monday.

The charges have been laid under the Health and Safety in Employment Act.

Mr McLeod did not enter a plea and the case was remanded until 9 February.
