Police receive more information about teacher

Former pupils and colleagues of Far North teacher James Parker have been calling police with information that could lead to further charges of sexual assault.

Parker, who was deputy principal at Pamapuria Primary School, pleaded guilty last week to 49 offences against young boys.

Senior Sergeant Kevin Burke says about 30 people have called an 0800 number set up to deal with the fallout from Parker's offending.

He says the callers include teachers who knew Parker and boys who want to talk about what happened to them.

Mr Burke says it is important that boys who were targeted by Parker during his teaching career do speak to someone.
