The New Zealand Parole Board has revoked fewer decisions in the past year.

The board's annual report says 18 parole decisions were revoked in the 12 months to June, compared with 19 in the previous 12 months.

Twenty-three home detention decisions were revoked, compared with 26 last year.

The Parole Act states the board may revoke a direction to release an offender on parole or home detention at any time before the start of the period.

The board approved only one application for compassionate release in the past year, compared with two last year.
