Auckland property market keeps moving

The property market in Auckland continues to bubble along.

Barfoot & Thompson sold 1016 houses in the region in August, while prices edged up to record average of $592,395.

It's the third time this year that Barfoot's has sold more than 1000 houses in a month, something it has achieved only once in the past four years.

Managing director Peter Thompson says August is normally a quieter month, but an influx of people moving to Auckland had demand running ahead of the properties on their books.

He says Barfoot listed just over 1400 new listings last month and the fact that just over 1000 listings sold quickly shows that what's coming on the market is sold.
