Decision reserved on penalty for mortgage scam

The Real Estate Licensing Board has reserved its decision after considering what penalties to give three realtors involved in an elaborate mortgage scam.

The board earlier heard that Raghu Aryasomayajula, Phillip Cavanagh and Phillip Niall inflated the prices of homes and used false documentation to get finance.

The men worked for the Mt Albert branch of Barfoot and Thompson in Auckland, and added almost $2 million to the values of four mortage applications.

All were deemed unfit to continue as certified salespersons at a previous hearing.
