Changes have been announced to the motorcycle licensing system, which the Government says will ensure novice motorcyclists are better prepared to ride safely.
From 1 October, a power-to-weight restriction will replace the current cc limit for novice riders.
The minimum time for motorcyclists to remain on the restricted licence will become the same for all ages.
At the moment, the time limit is shorter for riders aged over 25.
From 1 November, the basic handling test will be tougher than the current test.
