A 24-year-old charged with the murder of a man in Kapiti, north of Wellington, has been remanded in custody until next month.
Sean Strongman-Lintern, who was 20, died in the early hours of Saturday morning near a bar in the Kapiti Lights complex in Paraparaumu.
Labourer Tristim Lee Eastham of Waitangirua appeared in Porirua District Court on Monday.
A large group of Mr Eastham's supporters were in court for his appearance, and some wept and hugged each other.
As he left the dock, about five supporters gave a straight-arm salute from the public gallery.
Mr Eastham was remanded to reappear on 2 October.
Mr Strongman-Lintern's death took place in the same area where a 17-year-old was killed five weeks ago.
