Authority tells cooks to ignore chicken recipe

The Food Safety Authority says cooks should ignore a magazine recipe that offers unsafe advice for preparing chicken.

The advice features in a recipe included in a national magazine. It tells readers to marinate the chicken, cook it and to then pour the raw marinade over either the cooked chicken or a salad.

Authority deputy chief executive Sandra Daly says she would be concerned if people were being advised to do this.

She says there is still a possibility of contamination with bacteria and advises people to take extra care when preparing poultry, especially over the summer period.

The name of the magazine has not been disclosed.
