A judge in the Tauranga District Court has sent a 65-year-old Taupo man to jail for three years for defrauding ACC of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Rocklin Cuthbert pleaded guilty in August this year, to two charges of dishonestly using a document to obtain a pecuniary advantage and one of obtaining by deception.

A Crown lawyer says from August 2007 to December 2010, Cuthbert defrauded ACC of more than $200,000 by using a false identity, more than one doctor and by submitting about 14 false medical certificates.

Cuthbert was also ordered to pay reparation of $3000 to ACC within 28 days.
