Service commemorates NZers in Bomber Command

A memorial service has been held at the National War Memorial in Wellington for New Zealanders who were part of the British Bomber Command during World War II.

It follows the unveiling of a memorial to RAF Bomber Command veterans in London three months ago.

Only a few New Zealand veterans could attend that commemoration.

Defence Minister Jonathan Coleman says he was humbled by Wednesday's service.

He says the airmen were very brave men, and the death rate was very high.
