5:14 pm on 27 September 2012

Police say two people have been charged and a third is to be arrested in relation to the attempted murder of a man in Tauranga in July.

Two shots were fired into a house on Meander Drive in Welcome Bay and a 43-year-old man was hit in the head with shotgun pellets.

Police say since the shooting they have discovered there was a home invasion at the same property in May, and another unreported shooting in Hamilton relevant to the investigation.

One 35-year-old man from Hamilton has appeared in the Tauranga District Court and a second man, also aged 35, is to appear in the same court on 3 October.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a third man, who is 44 and from Tauranga.

All three face a variety of charges including two counts of attempted murder, aggravated burglary and wounding to cause grievous bodily harm.
