Police say the driver of a stolen vehicle rammed a police car before escaping after a pursuit in Wellington.
Officers began chasing the stolen Toyota Hilux surf at 11.30pm on Thursday on State Highway 1 at Tinakori Road.
Inspector Marty Parker says the pursuit reached speeds of 150km/h before the driver stopped and reversed into a police car on the Newlands offramp.
The vehicle was later found in Sheridan Terrace in Johnsonville, but police dogs were unable to track down the offender.
